As I'm bringing the throttle back pretty slowly when coming down to idle speed, the engine drops down low RPMs and dies. If I bring it back real real and I mean real slow it'll stay running. Once they heat up to operating temperature they stop work intermittently like a faulty oil pressure sensor does. (only when the sensor is failing). You will have to let your engine cool off before your crank position sensor will begin to work again. WebSep 20, 2006 · Now turn the flywheel until both valves are closed. Insert a narrow screwdriver into the spark plug hole and touch the piston. Turn the flywheel clockwise past top dead center until the piston has moved down 1/4". I'd go WOT for maybe 5 minutes and then drop down to idle and troll. The only issue I have ever experienced was if I dropped the RPMs very abruptly, the engine would sputter and die, but when restarted it would keep running.
